Services

  • Drywall hanging

New builds, basements and additions, boarded tight.

  • Taping and finishing

Every level from 1 to 5, matched to the paint going on.

  • Level 5 skim coat

One thin coat over the whole wall, for light that shows everything.

  • Patch and repair

Water stains, cracks, old anchors and doorknob holes, blended in.

  • Interior painting

Walls, ceilings, trim and doors, with the furniture looked after.

  • Exterior painting

Siding, porches and trim, prepped for mountain weather.

  • Ceilings

Popcorn scraped, cracks taped, a flat ceiling you forget about.

Rushed drywall shows up the day you paint.

Paint does not hide a bad joint. It makes it shine.

Most finishing problems are invisible while the wall is grey. Then the first coat of paint goes on, the evening light comes in low through the window, and every ridge, every sunken screw and every seam that did not get its drying time is suddenly there.

Fixing it after the paint means sanding, priming and painting again. Doing it right the first time costs less than doing it twice.

So we let the mud dry, we sand under a work light held flat to the wall, and we prime new board before colour. It is slower by a day or so. You will not see the difference until the sun hits it, and then you will not see anything at all.

Ask for a written scope
  • Drying time, not guess time

Each coat of mud dries before the next goes on, even when it means coming back tomorrow.

  • One crew, start to finish

The people who hang the board are the people who paint it, so nobody blames the last trade.

  • A scope you can read

Rooms, levels of finish, primer and paint, written down before we start. No surprises on the last day.

What Level 5 really means.

Drywall finishers grade their work on a scale from 0 to 5.

Level 0 is bare board. Level 5 is the smoothest finish there is: the whole wall gets a thin skim coat, so paper and joint compound read as one surface. Pick a level to see what changes.

Level 2 · One coat over the tape

Tape and screw heads get a single thin coat. Tool marks and ridges are fine at this level.

Good for: garages, storage rooms, and walls that will be covered in tile.

A drawn wall, three boards wide, lit from the side the way a low sun would light it. Move your pointer, or drag a finger, across it to move the light.

Dear mountain homeowner,

If you are reading this, you probably have a wall that needs doing, and a few quotes that do not agree with each other. One is cheap enough to worry you. One is high enough to make you wonder what is in it.

Here is what is in ours. We hang the board, tape it, coat it as many times as the finish needs, sand it with a light held flat to the wall, prime it and paint it. The same crew does all of it, so the painter never has to cover for the finisher.

We will tell you which level of finish each room actually needs. A closet does not need Level 5. A great room with a wall of west-facing glass probably does. You will get that in writing, room by room, before we start.

We keep the dust behind plastic, the floors covered, and you will hear from us at the end of each day. If that sounds like the kind of crew you want in your house, call us, or send the form. We would be glad to come and look.
