Guide · Updated October 2026

What does a website cost in Asheville?

A custom small-business website from Valdra Co. costs $799 (up to 5 pages) or $1,499 (up to 10 pages), paid once, and you own it. If you would rather spread it out, the Hosted plan is $149 a month plus a $199 or $499 setup fee. For comparison, one Asheville agency puts a basic custom build in the area at $3,000 to $8,000.

What other Asheville agencies charge

Most local agencies do not publish their prices, so there is no complete survey. The clearest public estimate we found comes from Gridwork Marketing, an Asheville marketing agency, in its June 2026 guide to local web design companies: $3,000 to $8,000 for a basic custom small-business build, and $8,000 to $30,000 or more for sites with e-commerce, custom functionality or heavy SEO work. The same guide lists support plans at one Asheville studio from $50 to $350 a month.

Why is Valdra lower? We are a small studio with low overhead, we build quickly instead of stretching projects over months, and we focus on the sites small local businesses actually need. A large site with a shop, member logins or custom software is a different project and costs more anywhere, including here; we quote those individually.

What changes the price of a website

  • Number of pages. A five-page site (home, services, about, gallery, contact) is a different job from a twenty-page one.
  • Features. Online booking, online ordering, a shop or a members area each add build and testing time.
  • Content. Whether you supply the photos and words or need them made.
  • Revisions. How many rounds of changes are included before extra time is billed.
  • Motion and polish. Scroll effects and 3D take longer to build and test on every phone.
  • SEO depth. Basic setup versus page-by-page keyword and schema work.

Costs people forget to ask about

  • Domain name. Your web address renews every year, whoever builds the site. Make sure it is registered in your name.
  • Hosting. A site you own needs somewhere to live. Ask who pays for it after launch. On Valdra’s Hosted plan it is included.
  • Upkeep. Updates, backups and fixes. Some people do it themselves; our Priority care plan is $199 a month.
  • Ad spend. If you run Google or Facebook ads, the money paid to those platforms is separate from any management fee.

One-time or monthly: which costs less?

It depends on how long you keep the site and whether you want to look after it. Using our own prices:

First yearAfter two yearsIncluded
Base website, one time$799$799The build. Hosting and upkeep are yours to arrange.
Hosted, Base-level$1,987$3,775The build, hosting, maintenance and small updates.

Monthly costs more over time but starts lower and includes the upkeep. One-time costs less over time and you own the site outright. On the Hosted plan, the site stays with Valdra if you cancel, so if ownership matters to you, choose a one-time build.

Five questions to ask any web designer before you pay

  1. Who owns the website and the domain when we are done?
  2. What exactly is included, and what costs extra?
  3. How many rounds of revisions are included?
  4. When does the timeline start, and when does it end?
  5. Who do I call when something breaks, and how fast do you answer?

Our own answers are on the web design page.

Questions

Is a $799 website really custom?

Yes. The Base website is designed for your brand, with a 5 page custom design, mobile layout, contact form and map, fast loading, basic SEO setup and 2 rounds of revisions, usable through 30 days after launch. It costs less because we keep the scope to what a small local business needs.

Are there hidden fees?

No. What we quote is what you pay. Anything extra is listed before you commit. The only cost outside our quote is ad spend, if you run ads, which goes to Google or Meta directly.

Do I own the website on the monthly plan?

No. On the Hosted plan Valdra builds, hosts and maintains the site, and it stays with Valdra if you cancel (30 days’ notice). If you want to own it, choose the Base or Premium one-time build.

How long does it take?

Most Valdra Co. websites are built in 5 to 14 business days. The clock starts once the agreement is signed, the deposit is paid and we have your materials (logo, photos, text), so the more you have ready, the sooner it launches.
